Availability During Major Maintenance Project.
In September and October we will be replacing some of the columns that are holding up the kitchen floor. For this reason the Lodge will be closed on Sept. 14, 18, 19, 26 & 27, and Oct 1, 16-23, 26, 28 & 31.
On all other days we will be accepting a limited number of reservations giving guests the option to change to an alternative hotel and receive and refund between price the at Monteverde Lodge and the price of the alternative hotel.
Here is how it will work:
During many of the days the project will cause little or no inconvenience to guests. By limiting occupancy to 44% of capacity and only doing the repair work in half the kitchen at a time, we will be able to serve Breakfast and Dinner with a reduced menu. We will not be serving lunch. Since most guests find it more convenient to not return to the lodge for lunch after their morning activities, this will not be a major inconvenience.
On other days there will be annoying noise at least part of the time between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The problem is that at this point we do not know which days will be quiet and which days will be noisy.
In light of this, what we have decided to do is give guests the option of changing hotels at any time---even after they have arrived or spent a night at the hotel---and refund the difference in between the price of Monteverde Lodge and the alternative hotel.
Since these months are not very busy in Monteverde, we can be assured of having space available at short notice.
The best time to decide will be 3 days before you are scheduled to arrive. At that point we should have a very precise idea of whether the work that is going on during your stay will be noisy or not. We will contact you 3 days before your arrival and tell you precisely what you can expect during your stay at the Lodge. You can then tell us whether you want to stay at Monteverde Lodge or stay at the alternate hotel.
The alternate hotel is Fonda Vela. We routinely send clients to Fonda Vela when Monteverde Lodge is full. The feedback we receive from these guests is normally quite satisfactory. Depending on room categories at Monteverde Lodge and Fonda Vela the refund for the difference in price between Monteverde Lodge will be between $15.50 and $55.50 per person per night.
