Santa Elena Reserve Excursion

The Tour
Our 4 hour tour includes the services of one of our Naturalist Guides, who are the most experienced in the area, round trip transportation, and entrance fee to the Reserve and to the Hummingbird Gallery.

A tour group is no more than 9 guests when shared, and only your party when reserved privately
Shared Adult Rate Shared Child Rate Private Adult Rate Private Child Rate
$68 $50 $94 $70
This is the price for the tour described above. The price goes down if you have your own transportation. We can also arrange your entrance fee, and transportation if you need it, so that you can explore the reserve all day on your own.

Though lesser known, the Santa Elena Reserve is an equally remarkable, though distinct, cloud forest. Its higher elevation makes it cooler than Monteverde Reserve, and you often hike in winds and clouds. The Santa Elena Reserve sits on the Caribbean Slope and has patches of secondary forest as well as extensive areas of primary forest. Depending on your interest the trail system offers short, intermediate and long hikes.

Santa Elena is the best place to search for the Three-Wattled Bell bird. Their hummingbird gallery is busy with five different species of Hummingbirds and the trails are busy with mixed flocks of birds.

From a botanical point of view, Santa Elena offers remarkable opportunities to observe a dense plant life and learn about the interactions taking place in this complex ecosystem.

no smoking

Smokers Be Aware!
Costa Rica has recently passed one of the strictest smoking regulations in the world; hotels are 100% SMOKE FREE.
If you are a guest at the hotel, and want to smoke, by law you are required to leave the property. This is a 300 meter walk to the road outside the main gate, day or night, rain or shine. We realize that this is very inconvenient, but it’s the law. There is an $800 fine for breaking this law.
