El Trapiche: Coffee, Chocolate & Sugar Cane

During the walk, the guide explains the sugar cane process, farming and natural history. Also, taste the sugar cane and different products made of this plant. Besides, learn about coffee, showing the plants and the process of crushing, peeling and roasting.

You can take a short trip in an ox- cart (not mandatory) to explore the sugar cane plantation and cocoa. They show the cocoa process, including a brief explanation of how the tree develops, pollination, seed fermentation, drying, roasting and grinding cocoa. Learn how to obtain rich and tasty chocolate. In addition to this, they also show the “guaro” process (local moonshine!).

The tour concludes with a presentation of artisanal sugar cane candy. Make your own and enjoy! You can also taste the arracache root, cup of coffee, lemonade or “Aguadulce” (sweet water made from sugar cane)
