We spent three nights at the Monteverde Lodge and Gardens and it was the highlight of our trip. The lodge is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens which host beautiful birds and interesting animals. The restaurant serves delicious gourmet food, perfectly prepared to suit any special dietary requirements. There is a full bar which serves local craft beer, as well as a wide variety of spirits. The rooms are elegantly appointed with very comfortable beds spacious decks that overlook gardens filled with lush plants and exotic birds.

The staff is very accommodating, offering prompt service for all of our needs. We used the laundry service and it was done promptly, efficiently, and at a reasonable cost.

We arranged outings to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and to the nearby hanging bridges. The Lodge personnel arranged our transportation and hired an excellent local birding guide who helped us locate the specialty birds in the area.

I highly recommend Monteverde Lodge and Gardens to nature lovers traveling to this area.

Our Response

Dear leapin_lemur,

Thank you for taking the time to write us such a great description of your experience at the lodge. I hope you were able to really spend some quality time in our gardens. The last time I was there I spent the whole time I was eating breakfast at the restaurant, watching three squirrels play and jump from tree to tree. It was quite a treat and a great way to start the day.

Did you make it all the way to the bottom to where the lookout is at? I personally consider that single spot a must see stop if you are in Monteverde. To just sit there and read, or look out over the forest helps you really unwind.

Reading your comments I get the impression that you seemed to really connect with the lodge ambiance. Because of that I want to invite you to someday try our other property, Tortuga Lodge & Gardens, which sits on Costa Rica┬┤s Caribbean coast.

You will find the same level of hospitality and access to nature, though since they are located in opposite areas of the country, Tortuga Lodge and Gardens is nowhere near Monteverde Lodge and Gardens.

As Monteverde is defined by the Cloud Forest, Tortuguero is a product of its rivers, and thus so too is Tortuga Lodge and Gardens. I won't try to describe all the differences; you will have to come see for yourself. I hope to be able to read about your visit one day!

You can also find Tortuga Lodge & Gardens on Trip Advisor.

Thank you again, we hope to have you back.
